Asvamedha

Also spelled  Aswamedha, Ashvamedha, or Ashwamedha,   grandest of the Vedic religious rites of ancient India, performed by a king to celebrate his paramountcy. The ceremony is described in detail in various Vedic writings, particularly the Satapatha Brahmana.
